A Christmas Tradition

When I was little we didn't do a lot of Holiday Baking at our house. I remember one time making cookies with my mom during my ENTIRE childhood. Are you weeping for me yet? Just kidding. However, my mom did make one thing almost every year when I was young, Rice Krispie Treats. Because of this my sister and I still love these simple treats. I make them every year, but only at Christmas, and usually give my sister half of them after I've snatched half for myself. Yesterday I made my yearly batch with Cooper's help.

Cooper and I often are at odds, I find that he almost focuses his attention on getting me worked up. Usually naptime is when he's at his best. Yesterday I forsook any 'alone' time for the day and allowed Cooper to skip his nap completely. Instead he helped me make Rice Krispie Treats. What a wonderful experience. He was very helpful, pouring in the ingredients as needed and putting away the things we were through using. And he was very proud of the finished product.

We also made Homemade Granola Bars, that while tasty, don't hold together very well when cut. Bailey loved it crumbled over yogurt for an afternoon snack though. I think we may have found a 'granola' recipe but not a bar recipe. Our kids love Quaker and Fiber One Granola Bars so I will continue on the hunt for a homemade granola bar that we all enjoy.

She Offered

Grandma Pam's brother Mike and his wife Wanda are here in Lynchburg visiting. They came over this evening for dinner. The kids decided they couldn't wait for Lasagna so Grandma offered to feed them.

And then of course there is dinnertime. Just as caotic as breakfast and usually results in children heading straight from the high chair to the bath. We have started giving the twins toast, pasta, green beans, etc. There are few pictures of Cooper because he has the whole pinching concept down and he doens't tend to make a mess, or at least as big a mess, as his little sister.

So the other night, I thought I would give the twins their own plate with pasta. Bailey liked the plate more than the pasta.
Is this edible? she wondered.
I guess I'll just have to find out.

Not bad.
It's better than the stuff my mom used to force on us, she thought to herself.
She's probably right. These are supposedly green beans.

First Attempt at Semi-Solids

So we started Coop and Bailey on semi-solids a few weeks ago, just Rice cereal though. Bailey couldn't stand it so after a few days we took a few weeks off. Then this past Sunday we tried Green Beans, both babies love 'em (as do their parents, however in the less goey form). All week they have been gobling the green beans down, next Squash or Carrots?

By the way, we do have bibs. We just got so excited about thier first time that we forgot to use them.
